Cracking Sound

Writer's picture: Pardis AKA SpinePardis AKA Spine

Many patients with chronic pain that has lasted months or years come to our clinic for relief. Apparently, some watch YouTube videos and hear that crack as the spine is adjusted, not realizing that those actors have been picked because their spines adjust easier and make those "cracking" sounds when adjusted.

Not everyone, when adjusted, makes a cracking sound. In my practice, at least 10% don't make a sound when being adjusted, but that doesn't mean they weren't adjusted. However, a major concern is more serious cases like ankylosis spondylitis, where the spine has fused. We will require x-rays for further evaluation if there has to be a better diagnosis.

Back to my initial narrative: in our clinic, we sometimes expect, usually from patients from remote areas, a quick fix for chronic problems, and many times, we can do that depending on what it is.

However, not always, as this is a form of physical medicine, and like oral medications, it takes time to see the results and improvement. Again, here at our clinic, we try to find the exact source of your pain.
